Update on Parish Events as of March 12, 2020

Dear People of God:

We have been keeping up on the recent developments in our public health, considering the information and guidance from health officials, the bishops, and the Episcopal Church, and making every effort to respond thoughtfully, prayerfully, and without fueling unnecessary anxiety.

Under the rapidly changing circumstances often mixed with differing information that has at times been challenging.
Given where we find ourselves today and anticipating how things might be evolving in the near future, as of today, March 12, all non-essential activities at The Church of St. Andrew are suspended through March 31.

What is essential to being church is gathering for worship.  This will continue as scheduled on Sundays with the following modifications:

If you have any symptoms of illness or have compromised health that would put you at risk, please stay home.

The passing of the peace at the Eucharist will occur as a ritual action verbally between the presider and the people (without personal contact,    handshakes, etc.).

We will not exchange handshakes as people depart after worship.

Communion with the common cup will continue consistent with the guidance from the Bishop of New York with our usual time-tested, scientifically supported practices.

Please observe good hygiene practices when you’re in the buildings (frequent hand washing, etc.).

Specifically, the following activities are cancelled:

Coffee hour following the 10:00 a.m. service will not be held through the end of March.

Finance Committee meeting, Thursday, March 12. -Irish Dinner, Saturday, March 14.

IPC Lenten Evensong at St. Alban’s, Sunday, March 15.

Vestry meeting, Tuesday, March 17.

Any committee meetings that you have scheduled through the end of March should be postponed.
